Course Description This module covers the basic principles of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration. It introduces career opportunities in the HVACR industry, apprenticeship programs, basic safety principles, trade licensure, EPA guidelines, and the Laws of Thermodynamics.

Learning Objectives Upon successful completion of this module, trainees will be able to:

  1. Explain the basic principles of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration.
  2. Identify major career opportunities and work settings in the HVACR industry.
  3. Describe how apprenticeship programs are structured in the HVACR trade.
  4. Discuss basic safety principles, trade licensure, and EPA Section 608 refrigerant handling guidelines.
