  • Completion of NCCER Carpentry Level 1 or equivalent experience
  • Basic understanding of construction tools and safety practices

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this module, trainees will be able to:

  1. Identify the different types of gypsum drywall panels and their specific uses (e.g., regular, moisture-resistant, fire-rated).
  2. Select the appropriate type and thickness of drywall for various applications.
  3. Identify and describe the use of fasteners (nails, screws), adhesives, and accessories in drywall installation.
  4. Estimate material quantities (panels, fasteners, joint compound, tape) for a drywall project.
  5. Safely and correctly install drywall panels on walls using screws, nails, or adhesives.
  6. Safely and correctly install drywall panels on ceilings, including proper support and fastening techniques.
  7. Describe the requirements for fire-rated and sound-rated wall assemblies.
  8. Demonstrate proper tool use, handling, and layout techniques for efficient drywall installation.
