Course Description
This introductory module welcomes trainees to the construction industry. It explores the history of construction, current and future job outlooks, benefits of construction careers, typical career progression for craft professionals, various career options and required skills, and pathways to enter the industry through career and technical education (CTE), craft training/apprenticeships, and higher education.
Construction is presented as an exciting, well-paying field with abundant opportunities, ideal for individuals from diverse backgrounds who want to learn while earning.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this module, trainees will be able to:

- Explain the benefits of a construction career. a. Recognize and describe how construction careers positively impact communities. b. Describe the financial and professional advantages of pursuing a construction career.

- Identify ways to pursue a career in the construction industry. a. Explain the benefits of career and technical education (CTE) programs. b. Describe the advantages of craft training programs and their relationship to apprenticeships. c. Summarize pathways to construction careers through community colleges and universities.
